9 Important things to consider when applying Grant programs are oversubscribed Grant programs are competitive Some grant streams however may be targeted to particular groups Applications must respond to the program objectives and assessment criteria Reducing overlap

10 Responding to assessment criteria Example: Multicultural Festivals and Events What will the activity achieve? –the approach to achieving the program objectives Why is the project needed? –is strongly supported at a community level –consistent with shared priorities and includes more than one partner Who is involved? –will reach Victoria’s multicultural communities and the wider Victorian community; –is a collaborative approach with a range of partners, outlines the proposed contributions, roles and responsibilities, and the commitment to sustaining the relationship beyond the life of the activity; –builds the capacity and experience of other community organisations to deliver events. How will the activity be delivered? –is ready to proceed and supported by a clear approach and realistic timeframes; –budget is based on sound cost estimates and represents value for money; –is promoted to the wider community to ensure attendance.
