2 Who were the Perpetrators? Serbs. HOW THEY GAINED POWER: When Yugoslavia’s federal government fell the Serbs used political and economical crisis to gain power.

3 What reasons they had for their actions. During the war Muslims and Croats were guilty of atrocities that Serb forces were responsible for.

4 The Victims  Muslin and Craot civilians. Mostly the men were targeted. Why? –> they supported the creation of an independent state. Serbs used torture, gang rape, concentration camps and massacres.

5 HOW WAS THE GENOCIDE CARRIED OUT Events at Srebrenica mark the climax of the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The conflict in Bosnia- Herzegovina began in 1992 and featured largescale genocidal and gendercidal atrocities from the first. One of the largest massacres of the early part of the war took place at a gymnasium in the village of Bratunac, when an estimated 350 Bosnian Muslim men were tortured to death and massacred by Serb paramilitaries and special police. In spring 1992, fighting erupted between Bosnia and Serbia, both formerly parts of Yugoslavia. 'Ethnic Cleansing' by Serb military and paramilitaries in eastern Bosnia forced thousands of Muslims into three main enclaves: Zepa, Gorazde and Srebrenica.

11 How does this fit the def. of Genocide. Genocide: a group of people whipping out another group if people. This fits the definition of genocide because the Serbs tried to take over the Muslims. 12 How the perpetrators portrayed in the media. “We do not interferer in American affairs. We hope that they don’t interfere with ours.” This is saying that everyone should mind their own business.

13 How media outlets cover the individual’s “I took a stand that I believe what's correct,” he told Amanpour. “I didn’t think it was so controversial.”

14 The Bosnian trial “Serbian authorities recently put up “wanted” posters for Mladic at police stations across Serbia, reminding people of the 1 million euro reward for any information leading to Mladic’s capture. They were serious about this trial and you could tell by the example.
