 Control the flow of traffic by showing you who has the right-of-way  Traffic Signals Include:  Red, yellow, and green lights  Turn arrow lights  Lane Signs  Flashing red and yellow lights

 When a traffic signal is hung vertically, the red light is always on the top, the yellow in the center and the green on the bottom.  When the traffic signal is hung vertically, the red light is on the left, the yellow in the middle, and the green is on the right.

 Red Light  A motorist must stop before the intersection or crosswalk and remain stopped until the light changes to green  Yellow Light  A motorist should stop before entering an intersection, unless the vehicle is so close to the intersection that they cannot stop  Green Light  A motorist should proceed through the intersection. Yield to pedestrians and other vehicles still in the intersection. Before turning through an intersection yield to other vehicles

 Green Arrow  When shown proceed only as shown by the arrow, however yield to pedestrians and be cautious  Flashing Yellow Light  Slow down and proceed with caution  Flashing Red Light  Stop, yield to pedestrians and traffic, go when safe  Unlit Signal  If no one is directing traffic the light is now considered a four way stop sign. Follow those rules

 On the road these signs give drivers different kinds of information  Dividing lanes  Showing when a drive can pass/ change lanes  Indicating which lanes to use for turns  Showing where pedestrians can walk  Showing where drivers must stop

 Yellow Center Lines- Separate traffic flow going in opposite directions  White Lines- Separate traffic going in the same direction when there is more than one lane  Dashed Lines- On a motorist’s side of the center line of the road means that passing is permitted  Solid Line- Do not pass on this side of the line  White Dashed Lines- Separate traffic lanes on multi lane highways

 White Cross Walk- Indicate pedestrian crossing areas  White Stop Lines- Show where to stop at stop signs or traffic signals  Double Yellow/White Solid Lines- Prohibit passing  Yellow Solid and Dashed Lines- Controlled passing. You can pass only if the dashed lines are on your side of the roadway
