1
Electric Current Electric current is an electric charge in motion.
Materials that allow electrons to flow easily through them are called conductors of electricity. Ex. Copper, silver, iron, etc.
2
Electric Current Materials that resist the flow of electrons are nonconductors which are called insulators. Ex. Wood, glass, rubber, plastic, etc. These help prevent electrical shock to someone who touches a wire that is carrying an electric current.
3
Closed/Open Circuits Electricity must have a complete path from the power source, through the circuit, and back to the source, this is called a closed circuit.
4
Closed/Open Circuits If the path of electric current is broken, the circuit is incomplete and is called an open circuit.
6
Series/Parallel Circuits
Lights are connected in a way that the electric current must pass through one bulb before it can get to the next, this is called a series circuit.
7
Series/Parallel Circuits
Parallel circuits are wired in such a way that each bulb receives the current independent of the other bulbs.
