2 Course Description This course has been structured to teach students the fundamentals of Algebra 1. Topics of discussion will include: Foundations of Algebra Equations and Inequalities Descriptive Statistics Relations and Functions Linear Models Exponential Models Polynomial Expressions Quadratic Functions Rational Functions

3 Grading Policy Students grades will be based as follows: A: 90-100, B: 80-89, C: 70-79, D: 60-69, F: 59 or below Tests are 50% of the grade Quizzes are 30% of the grade Classwork /Homework/Other is 20% of the grade

4 Class and Supplemental Materials Students are expected to bring: Pencil/ Red Pen / Highlighter 3 ring Folder with textbook pages of current chapter Previous class notes Any supplemental material Class Fees Students are to use the textbook Glencoe Algebra 1 by McGraw Hill (Common Core Edition) Class set of textbooks; students have online access at home

5 Mathletics www.mathletics.com Students are expected to complete their Mathletics weekly assignments by Sunday nights at 8pm. Only technical assistance a teacher can give is to reset password. 6 Student Expectations Students are to come prepared and ready to learn After 3 verbal warnings and a call home student will receive a detention for not improving or modifying his/her behavior. Electronic devices are not allowed in class. (It will be confiscated and sent to the main office per school policy). Eating and Drinking are not allowed in my classroom unless a student has a valid medical reason that has been cleared by the office (i.e. a diabetic student). Bathroom passes are for emergencies only- will be given four passes per nine week unless a student has a valid medical reason that has been cleared by the office. Complete their homework daily and continually studying for the course.
