5 MINI LIT CIRCLES This week we will be in mini literature circles – prep for Shakespeare! Each group will have about 6 people in it Here’s the plan for the week: Monday: Read and annotate a fairy tale, and pull out a symbol in the fairy tale and explain it with evidence (vocab term: “explicate.” Each member explicates a different symbol) Tuesday: Create a DIDLS and explain the tone of the fairy tale Thursday: Elements of a Fairy Tale. Fill out sheet and identify elements and how they move the story Friday: Create a “movie poster” and words to go along as a live trailer for your story and present it to class ***All work due on Friday!***

6 MINI LITERATURE CIRCLES Today we will get into fairy tale lit circles for the week There will be about 6/group Your choices are: Rapunzel Hansel and Gretel Cinderella Little Briar Rose Snow White

7 READ! Read and annotate! Look for: Figurative language Imagery Symbols Interesting things that catch your eye!

8 SYMBOLS

9 SYMBOLS: ON YOUR OWN… Identify a symbol from your story. Each group member needs to choose a different symbol. On your own, underneath your do now, write a short explanation of: What the symbol is What is symbolizes/means How it aides in the plot of the story This explanation should be about ½ to 1 page and should have at least 3 pieces of evidence in it. Embed your evidence!!
