Marie Gentry (Interior Design), Chair Jim Gigantino (History), Vice Chair University Calendar Committee Proposal

Purpose and Background Both students and faculty are finding the current ten minute interval between classes to be inadequate due to a number of factors including: – Continued growth on campus both in enrollment and facilities – Development of facilities away from the center of campus – Centralized scheduling system that spreads room assignments across campus

Committee Charge The University Calendar Committee reviewed the current class schedule and voted to recommend an additional five minutes be added to the interval between classes The Committee studied three different proposals submitted by the Registrar’s Office Each proposal: – Modified the start times for MWF courses – Decreased TR contact time to 150 minutes Provides equity between MWF and TR contact hours (each now at 150 minutes) and leaves the TR start times unchanged

Current Intervals MWF7:30 AM8:20 AM MWF8:30 AM9:20 AM MWF9:30 AM10:20 AM MWF10:30 AM11:20 AM MWF11:30 AM12:20 PM MWF12:30 PM1:20 PM MWF1:30 PM2:20 PM MWF2:30 PM3:20 PM MWF3:30 PM4:20 PM MW3:30 PM4:50 PM MWF4:30 PM5:20 PM MW4:30 PM5:50 PM TR8:00 AM9:20 AM TR9:30 AM10:50 AM TR11:00 AM12:20 PM TR12:30 PM1:50 PM TR2:00 PM3:20 PM TR3:30 PM4:50 PM TR4:00 PM5:20 PM TR4:30 PM5:50 PM

Implementation Recommend implementation of new course times in Fall 2013
