6 Small Group Discussion Think for a few minutes about: one or two work-related activities you love. one or two work-related activities you really dislike or that cause you a great deal of anguish and/or stress. Turn to a partner and talk about the key skills involved in each (e.g., organization, creativity, interpersonal, accountability)

7 Developing a Network Don’t let developing a network make you cringe. It sounds complicated, but it does not have to be.

8 Developing a Network What is Networking? Just keep track of people you know in your personal and work life. Why is networking important? Good way to look for jobs & other opportunities, especially when looking for higher level positions. How should I check in with my network? Depends on how well you know your contacts and in what way you stay connected. How can I expand my networks? Ask people in your networks about others who can help you get the information you need.

13 Communications or Public Relations vs. Marketing Marketing: The tactical aspects or process of presenting a product or service in a positive light Print Media Radio TV Social Media 3 rd Party Endorsements Spokespersons for Teacher Education  Every SCDE would do well to employ--or utilize the university's--communications or public relations manager who is intimately involved in the communications and marketing process. The dean/chair MUST manage image and branding!
