2 M ANICURES Start by softening hands in a substance followed by application of lotion. Most manicures involve shaping the nails and adding nail polish. It may also include the application of artificial nails, acrylics, or artificial nail gels. Some manicures include the painting of pictures on nails, or drawings, applying imitation jewels. Manicurist usually take special Cosmetology classes.

3 A ESTHETICIANS Specialize in beautifying the skin. They perform cosmetic skin treatments including hair removal such as waxing, threading, massaging, body wraps, skin care, eyelash/eyebrow tinting, eyelash extensions, aromatherapy, permanent make up, and make up application. May also specialize in machine treatments such as non surgical face-lifts.

4 H AIRSTYLIST A hair stylist is someone who cuts and styles hair. He or she can also perform other services some are coloring hair, adding extensions and straightening. A good hairstylist has a sense of fashion and the ability to know what style will know what will be best for their client. Hair stylists often do hair special occasions in addition to routine hairstyling

5 M AKE -U P A RTIST A makeup artist is a branch of cosmetology that specializes in the application of cosmetics to their clients faces. They are paid to create a look using cosmetics on another persons face. Usually including a foundation or powder, blush, eye makeup, and other things their clients might want. They can do anything for special events, at salons & spa’s, live events such as theatre, dramatic events, photography, runway fashion shows, television sets, and film sets,

6 B ECOMING A C OSMETOLOGIST Most all cosmetology courses in the United States focus mostly on hairstyling, but also train their students as general beauticians to provide manicures, facials, etc. In a state-licensed beauty school, a certificate course in general cosmetology usually takes around a year to complete. Specialized, non-hairstyling courses such as manicure, facials, or makeup art are usually last a shorter amount of time to finish, taking anywhere from two weeks to six months, although the most distinguished beauty schools may have a longer course. In Higher Learning Institutions, an Associate's Degree can be given to you on the path to becoming a cosmetologist.
