Delta Lambda Chapter Beautillion Program The Delta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., founded May, 1919, is currently engaged in our fifth annual Delta Lambda Beautillion As the oldest predominantly African American collegiate fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha has as one of its tenets, the support of youth through active community service Through programs such as the Beautillion, members of the chapter work to have a positive impact on the lives of youths and guide them toward more purposeful futures

Delta Lambda Chapter Beautillion Program At the conclusion of the six month educational and personal development training, participating young men (known as beaus) are formally presented to society at the chapter’s annual Black & Gold Ball on May 19, 2007 The highlight of this evening is the presentation of college scholarships to each beau! Since its inception, the Delta Lambda Chapter Beautillion program has raised more than $46,000 in scholarship funds for the first four Beautillion classes In 2006 we raised approximately $13,000 in scholarships that were distributed to between eleven young men within the 2006 Beautillion class

Delta Lambda Chapter Beautillion Program Young men eligible for the program are high school seniors with demonstrated academic and/or leadership potential have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale are involved in some type of extracurricular activities A nominal participation fee of $175.00 is assessed for each beau to help defray program expenses Beaus are encouraged to identify “sponsors” who might help pay this fee. Many members of the Delta Lambda Chapter have been willing to serve in this capacity

8 Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Delta Lambda Chapter Beautillion Program Each Beau is expected to attend the scheduled seminars in order to be eligible for the Beau of the Year Note: An excuse to miss a scheduled seminar must be done so via telephone or email, no later than 24 hours prior to the event and the Beau must make arrangements to obtain the missed material Unless otherwise directed, Beaus are to wear a shirt and tie to all sessions and to be on time Attendance during the entire Beautillion retreat is mandatory. Any Beau who misses any of the retreat will be dismissed from the program

Delta Lambda Chapter Beautillion Program Beaus have the opportunity to support their Beautillion presentation booklet with the procurement of advertisements from patrons and benefactors. All scholarships awarded by the Chapter must be requested by March 1, 2008. All scholarships not requested by then will be forfeited. Requests for these scholarships must be made after being officially registered in college during the first semester deadline (Aug. 15th – Sept. 30th) and/or the second semester deadline (Jan. 15th –March 1st). An enrollment verification form and completion instructions will be mailed to each Beau in August of 2007.

Delta Lambda Chapter Beautillion Program Participants, of the Beautillion program, elect officers (president, vice president and secretary) to serve as their official leaders during this unique “rights of passage” training and personal development program The Beau candidate with the highest total points by the deadline of April 15, 2007 will be designated “Beau of the Year”
