1 Annotated Works Cited Page
How is it different from a Regular works cited?

2 The basics An Annotated Works Cited looks just like a regular Works Cited page except that you offer a SUMMARY of each source listed on the page. Your summary needs to be a brief paragraph that includes the main ideas of the essay, website, etc. Your summary needs to be 3-6 sentences long. The length of the summary depends on the length of the source. The longer the source, the longer the summary.

3 What you need to do on your annotated works cited
Annotate a minimum of THREE (3) sources One source will be your primary source (The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass or The Scarlet Letter) Since this is just practice, you do NOT have to annotate all of your sources the way your normally would on a real annotated works cited list. Make sure that the summary paragraph lines up with the hanging indent (the part of the MLA bibliography entry that is indented). An example appears on the next slide.

4 Annotated Works Cited Lamott, Anne
Annotated Works Cited Lamott, Anne. Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life. New York: Anchor Books, Print. Lamott's book offers honest advice on the nature of a writing life, complete with its insecurities and failures. Taking a humorous approach to the realities of being a writer, the chapters in Lamott's book are wry and anecdotal and offer advice on everything from plot development to jealousy, from perfectionism to struggling with one's own internal critic. In the process, Lamott includes writing exercises designed to be both productive and fun.
