4 Widener Nortel Biased “ After giving this much thought, given our partnership with Nortel, it would not be appropriate to bring HP, Alcatel, or Cisco into a WINS meeting to discuss Layer 2 or Layer 3 switches. Our partnership is very strong and should not be jeopardized. If you want to invite other school district technology representatives to a meeting with HP at your facility, you can bring it up at the WINS meeting. Thanks!” “ After giving this much thought, given our partnership with Nortel, it would not be appropriate to bring HP, Alcatel, or Cisco into a WINS meeting to discuss Layer 2 or Layer 3 switches. I have never invited any other vendors to present Layer 2 or Layer 3 switches. The vendors brought in from other school districts were presenting other solutions in other areas. The Nortel partnership has reaped benefits for all of the school districts, and as much as you may disagree, to you as well, that has given us a stable backbone that all of the districts have come to rely on. Some school districts ( Garnet Valley, Haverford, Interboro, Radnor, Rosetree Media, SE Delco and Springfield ) have also chosen Nortel as their vendor of choice for Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches. “This was not a turnabout. I am biased to Nortel Networks. And I would hope that you would be biased to HP, as a true partner should be. The purpose of the WINS meetings is to promote communications between the school districts and to keep everyone informed of past, present, and future events related to Internet and Intranet connectivity. I invite you to join us, if you wish. If you are uncomfortable with this and choose to conduct a separate meeting, I would respect that as well.” The purpose of the WINS meetings is to promote communications between the school districts and to keep everyone informed of past, present, and future events related to Internet and Intranet connectivity.
