Substation L1/ Booster Substation Y-BE2 Update #3 August 15,2012

Status of Procurement  Substation L1  Transformer fully tested  Delivery expected in 1-2 weeks  Pictures of completed substation will be sent prior to shipment  Booster Transformer Y-BE2  RFP placed early August  All proposals due by 8/31/2012  Temporary Wiring  350 MCM cable is hung and wired for temporary panel board  Other temporary wiring will begin towards the end of August  Panelboard  1 assembled  1 needs to be assembled

Status of Procurement (Cont.)  Safety Switches  Delivered  Temporary installation will begin late August  Cable Supports  Delivered  Installation will occur late August to early September  Junction Box  Built  Will be shipped with substation

Substation Enclosure

Project Schedule  September 17-28  General Cleanup 2-3 weeks prior to shutdown of substation  Temporary electrical power will be completed the weekend prior (September 15 th )  It could take riggers several days to remove and install substations  Small clearances  Large weights  Discussions are underway to move forward with cutting a hole in LINAC’s roof  Contractors will be in this week to give a cost estimate

Temporary Power Plan  “Siphon” power from panel DHP-L2-2 Circuit #1  Cable will be run on temporary supports  4 conductor 350 mcm cable is heavy (~7 lbs./ft.) and will need an open area to lay  Some cable will be put on the floor but will be covered by a cable bridge  Setup 2 temporary panel board(s)  Run cable to individual loads  DHP panels, MCC loads  DHP panels will have potential hazards removed (mains, MCC, etc.)  13.8 kV lines will be disconnected  MCC loads will have configuration control locks  We will check current prior to using any MCC loads to ensure they will not trip off during operation  Power will be provided 24 hours a day

Installation Costs  1 Crew of Riggers (4-6 men)  Could be as much as $30k  Will remain unknown until a finalized roof plan is put in place  2 Week of Electricians  $100/manhour x 2 electricians x 80 hours = $16,000  Cable  2/0 - $3,500  2 – $3,700  House Power  $4,200 for panelboard  $2,000 for assembly  Miscellaneous Stock purchases  $2,100 Total Cost : $31,500 -> excluding rigging and roof Previous Estimate: $23,000 -> excluding rigging and roof Increase can be attributed to increased electrician time and panelboard cost

Future  Create Site Wide Monitoring Network PIP Project HQ PIP Project ???? Note: CG-1 has been moved from PIP schedule, and will now be handled by headquarters

Booster Y-BE2 Update  Replaced bad transformer  Working well  Decreased noise  Less heat  New transformer RFP  Estimated cost of $150k  Expect bids by end of August  Procurement will begin within 30 days of receiving bids  Will likely be much quicker  Install  Early next year  Several days
