3. Volcanoes The Philippines is a archipelago of more than 7100 islands. A lot of these islands are from volcanic origin. There are 37 volcanoes in The Philippines and 18 of these are still active. The most active volcano is Mount Mayon. For some brave tourists it is a hard obstacle to climb this volcano. The climb includes a tropical forest, 40 degree ascent of volcanic cinder and lava sands, and near the top tourists are faced with poisonous fumes.
