Lesson 34 – Cornelius 10:1-48 Peter’s vision vv. 9-16 He was praying at the 6th hour on the rooftop He became hungry…fell into a trance An “sheet-like object” descended from the sky with 4-footed animals, crawling creatures, and birds of the air

Lesson 34 – Cornelius 10:1-48 Peter’s vision vv. 9-16 God’s command Ù “Rise…kill…eat” Peter’s reply Ù “Not so!” Peter’s response indicates eating these creatures would have violated the dietary restrictions of the Law of Moses

Lesson 35 – Peter’s Report 11:1-18 The apostles & brethren throughout Judea heard what had happened in Caesarea v. 1 The “Gentiles had received the word of God” When Peter arrives back in Jerusalem, some Jewish disciples “took issue” re: his association with Gentiles vv. 2-3

Lesson 35 – Peter’s Report 11:1-18 Peter defends his actions vv. 4-16 This happened “…just as it did upon us at the beginning” cp. 2:1-4 This was Peter’s only “point of reference” He also remembered words spoken by Jesus shortly before His ascension v. 16 cp. 1:5

Lesson 35 – Peter’s Report 11:1-18 Peter’s conclusion v. 17 God “gave to them the same gift as He gave to us also…who was I to stand in God’s way?” The Jews’ acceptance v. 18 They gladly admit “…God has also granted the Gentiles repentance leading to life”
