1 The Funny Things You Do One day I found you standing on a chair leaning on the kitchen counter. You were sucking/licking the frosting from the rest of the cake left on the plate. (Feb. 2002) Kendra gets you to do this: You make fists and then do a smile/growl look on your face. You even get your head to wiggle. (1 year old) You love to go up to a person that may be sitting on the floor looking down. You will squat down, tilt your head, and get right in their face. I took pictures of Kendra and Javen with the digital camera. Whenever Javen saw a picture of Kendra he started to giggle. Whenever you chase after a ball you run with your arms stretched out in front of you like Frankenstein. After you have finished eating your food from a bowl, the bowl usually ends up on your head. You love giving hugs and you’ve started adding kisses which never make it to the person’s face. You blow kisses quite well. When we tuck you in for bed you lift up your arms when we begin placing the blankets on you. After each blanket is placed you put your arms down on top of the blanket. Whenever you see a dog or a picture of a dog you make a high pitched “woo, woo” sound. Here you are (pictured below) “sitting” in your car seat. This is our old car seat that I had just put on the floor to make some room where I was working. You decided to climb in the upturned seat and make yourself comfortable. I asked you to smile for the camera - this is what I got. When we say “yeah” you put both arms up in the air and open and close your hands. If you are angry or frustrated you stomp your feet as if you are running in place. I call you monkey boy because you climb up on anything and everything. You have started to slide the dining room chair over to the back of the couch where you proceed to climb up on the chair and then slide head-first down onto the couch. One scary monkey boy experience was when you hung down from the end of Kendra’s bed and proceeded to drop into her dress-up drawer. (almost 2) There are times you run around in little circles “yelling” and waving your arms. You grab onto the doorknobs and swing. Not so funny, but about four months before you turned 2 you climbed out of your crib as well as climbing down from your highchair.

2 Sometimes I’ll go into your room after your nap and you will have taken off the books from the book shelf and scattered them behind your door. Usually your pillow and blanket are also in the heap. When I am heading downstairs and you are to follow I’ll sit down on one of the stairs and you proceed to jump/climb on my back. I don’t need to hold on to you because you usually have a pretty good grip. Just recently Daddy asked you to say your prayers. You do a little mumbling and then “amen” Late at night if I am working (as I am now) you come down from your room and wander into the family room or computer room where I am. It’s 1 a.m.!!! (and here you are) You enjoy a rough and tumble time wrestling. You’ll drop your whole body on your victim - even Kendra. She likes picking you up now. Some people have asked if you and Kendra are twins! The Funny Things You Do
