Covers the importance of every day oral care, with a practical session including introduction to risk assessment, care planning, daily documentation and referral. Intermediate Training - SCQF level 6 Re-iterates the importance of daily oral care, focussing on dementia skills, palliative care, and end of life care with a practical focus on risk assessment and documentation.

Whilst this would not be deemed additional support for learning they may be offered study support: Study Plans Discussion with tutor to ensure they are progressing. Ongoing Feedback

12 Quality Education for a Healthier Scotland Foundation Mapping to SVQ Level 2 Reflective Learning The 10 Self Reflective learning cases provide a rich opportunity for individuals to evidence how their knowledge and understanding informs their work practice – reviewed by a occupationally competent and qualified assessor Reflective Learning Would enable SVQ performance criteria to be claimed in a holistic way across the SVQ Units – the number of points that can be claimed towards each unit will depend on the level of detail and reflection the individual provides in their 10 reflective cases Reflective Learning SVQ candidates are encouraged to provide specific work practice examples, as this will place them in a strong position to cover the performance criteria as well as knowledge points required to meet the SVQ units -these should be reference to the points they relate to throughout their work

13 Quality Education for a Healthier Scotland Foundation Mapping to SVQ Level 2 DOP Direct Observation of Practice (DOP) Could provide expert witness observation evidence for the SVQ units DOP Witness observation will need to be reviewed and the points for knowledge and performance criteria accepted by the SVQ assessor before it can contribute evidence towards the individual's SVQ DOP Candidates should be encourages to familiarise themselves with the contents of the SVQ units as this ensure that their written work is appropriately focussed on the units (the national occupational standards) they are working towards.

15 Quality Education for a Healthier Scotland Intermediate mapping to SVQ Level 2 Reflective cases The number of points that can be claimed depends on the amount of detail and reflection the individual provides in their 10 learning cases DOP Direct Observation of Practice (DOP) – this will need to be reviewed and the points for knowledge and performance criteria accepted by SVQ assessor before it can contribute evidence towards the individual’s SVQ.

16 Quality Education for a Healthier Scotland Intermediate mapping to SVQ Level 2 Oral care Questions Depending on the depth to which the individual answers the questions asked, following the DOP, they may be able to cover some knowledge points and some performance criteria from the SVQ units Open book Questionnaire The open book short answer questionnaire booklets may enable individuals to meet some SVQ knowledge points depending on the depth and extent of what they write in their responses to the questions set.
