Each project location is a logistical base of operation. Project location logistical base of operation

Each project location is a logistical base of operation. Each data collection site is a sensor, monitoring asset, observing platform, or wherever repeat measurements have been taken. Project location Data collection site logistical base of operation borehole flux tower vegetation plot stream gauge buoy climate station ship track

Each project location is a logistical base of operation. Each data collection site is a sensor, monitoring asset, observing platform, or wherever repeat measurements have been taken. Project location Data collection site And each data collection site can have many datasets. logistical base of operation

2400+ project locations high order Title, funding agency, funding program, discipline, point of contact, start and end dates, etc. All Arctic science 18 agencies & organizations

2400+ project locations high order Title, funding agency, funding program, discipline, point of contact, start and end dates, etc. All Arctic science 18 agencies & organizations 7700+ data collection sites high resolution Collection type, site name, elevation or depth, science keywords, links to datasets, etc. Arctic Observing multiple networks

Who is doing what, when and where? How do we plan for logistics? Where are medical facilities, field research stations, ship tracks, airports, etc.? Project Planning Collection Site Monitoring Dataset Usage & Understanding Project Life Cycle: Where are existing data collection sites? Where are more sites needed? Who operates and manages existing sites? Which sites can I use? Is this dataset suitable for my research? Does it cover my area for the right time period? How was it created? What are the errors? Who do I contact with questions?

Project Metadata Project Metadata Connecting information systems with ISO metadata and RESTful services: Collection Site Metadata Collection Site Metadata Dataset Metadata Dataset Metadata compatible web services compatible web services Metadata can be distributed across multiple organizations through web services.

Project Metadata Project Metadata Connecting information systems with ISO metadata and RESTful services: Collection Site Metadata Collection Site Metadata Dataset Metadata Dataset Metadata compatible web services compatible web services Data sharing and interoperability can be improved through use of “recommendations”. A recommendation is a set of information concepts that is independent of metadata dialects (standards), driven by user needs.

Recommendations can be used to evaluate metadata... Project Collection Site Dataset Evaluate ARMAP ADIwg ? AOV LTER ? CSW DCITE ADIwg Evaluate Quantitative Metrics Actionable Guidance Dialect 1 Dialect 2 Rec 1 Reports... and to improve metadata consistency, completeness, & interoperability.
