Today’s Objectives SWBAT create connections of human experiences during the Mexican Revolution through interpretation of primary source documents. SWBAT create connections of human experiences during the Mexican Revolution by understanding the different perspectives of the leaders of the revolution.

Keep in mind… In this lesson, we are not only going to look at very different people with very different beliefs, but after taking a quick look at them we’ll go back and dig deeper. Searching for more information that what you can find on the surface requires you to have an INQUIRING mind. In this case, have a curious mind and asking a lot of questions will be a benefit to your learning.

Primary Sources Primary sources are documents created during the time at which they are about. Primary sources have to be checked for bias – how the author’s beliefs affected his voice and style. Through studying primary sources we can gain a first- hand account of how life was.

Primary Sources include: ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS: Diaries, speeches, manuscripts, letters, interviews, news film footage, autobiographies, official records CREATIVE WORKS: Poetry, drama, novels, music, art RELICS OR ARTIFACTS: Pottery, furniture, clothing, buildings

Secondary Sources A secondary source interprets and analyzes primary sources. These sources are one or more steps removed from the event. Secondary sources also have to be checked for bias – how the author’s (editor’s) beliefs affected his voice and style.

Secondary Sources include: textbooks magazine articles histories criticisms commentaries encyclopedias etc.
