4 Warm Up: Bias in Pop Culture On a separate sheet of paper, answer the following questions? Does the interviewer like AK? How do you know? When watching this clip, do you like AK? Why or why not? Is this interview bias? How do you know?

5 Reminders Tutorial on Thursdays from 2:30-3:30pm You must remain in room 335 for the entire time This is a good time to work on setting up your notebook

6 Notebook Set Up You will need to have the following items on your desk: Materials Notebook Tape/Glue stick/Scissors Assignments Syllabus (Thursday) Primary/Secondary Sources sheet (Thursday) Analyzing Cause/Effect (Friday) Constructing History Part 1/Part 2 (Monday) If you are missing any of these, you are responsible for getting them off the wiki site during lunch

7 Notebook Set Up Turn to the first page in your notebook Title it “Syllabus” and number it “Page 1” Attach your syllabus to the blank space below Syllabus Page 1

8 Notebook Set Up Turn to the second page in your notebook Title it “Primary/Secondary Sources” and number it “Page 2” Attach your primary/secondary sources assignment to the blank space below Primary/Secondary Sources Page 2

9 Notebook Set Up Turn to the third page in your notebook Title it “Analyzing Cause/Effect” and number it “Page 3” Attach your “Analyzing Cause/Effect” sheet to the blank space below Analyzing Cause/Effect Page 3

10 Notebook Set Up Turn to the fourth page in your notebook Title it “Constructing History – Part 1” and number it “Page 4” Attach the sheet “Constructing History – Part 1” to the blank space below Title it “Constructing History – Part 2” and number it “Page 5” Attach the sheet “Constructing History – Part 2” to the blank space below

11 Notebook Set Up Turn to the next page in your notebook and title it: Bell Ringer Attach your bell ringer from today

12 Why do we have to do all of this? Notebook quizzes are given once a unit They include 5 content questions (What were the Middle Ages? Who was Martin Luther? Etc) And 5 procedural questions (What was Tuesday’s bell ringer? What page is yesterday’s assignment on? Etc) If you don’t set up your notebook correctly each day, you will not pass the notebook quiz Our first notebook quiz will be Monday, February 3

13 Constructing History Part II-A: Meta Concepts Sourcing Context Disagreement With a partner, read “Part II-B: Meta Concepts Practice” As one person reads aloud, the other person should be annotating the reading as he/she follows along When you finish one reading, the person who annotated should share their readings with his/her partner SWITCH and read the next account

14 Putting it all together Complete Part 1 Identify what similarities/differences exist between the two accounts Collaborate and Answer Questions # 2 & 3
