1 Beta Club Welcome New Invitees

2 You’ve Been Invited Because…  You are a freshman who was in Junior Beta Club.  You a sophomore with a GPA of 4.0 or higher.  You are a junior with a GPA of 3.75 or higher.

3 What is Beta Club?  Mission: To promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary students.  Started in Spartanburg, SC in 1934  Motto: Let Us Lead by Serving Others

4 Benefits of Beta Membership:  Recognition for achievement in a prestigious national organization- diploma seal & graduation cord  Opportunities for scholarships  Emphasis on service  Opportunities to lead  State Convention in Myrtle Beach

5 How Do You Maintain Membership?  Keep your GPA up  4.0 for Freshman & Sophomores  3.75 for Juniors & Seniors  Attend Meetings  First Monday of each month beginning in April  At 7:50, 9:50, or 3:40  Do your Service Hours  Induction semester- 1 in-club hour, 2 out-of-club hours  Rest of the semesters: 3 in-club hours, 5 out-of-club hours

6 Service Hours  Be specific, include details and dates.  Hours spent in Key, Leo and Avid community service may also be used for Beta hours.  For in or out of club hours, you must have a signature from an adult in charge of the event. Parents cannot sign for a service project.  Athletic training may count for up to 2 out-of-club hours per semester.  Do not include activities performed for immediate family members; example- free babysitting.  Many of the in-club projects are FREE.  Relay for Life

7 Membership Dues  $25 ($15 for the national chapter and $10 for the local club) due February 20 th.  National dues are one time only.

8 Induction Ceremony  Wednesday, March 4 th @ 6:00 in the Commons Area.  Inductees meet in the library no later than 5:15.  Proper dress required- look your best. Ties are encouraged for young men. All outfits must meet the District Five Dress Code.  Light refreshments will be served after the ceremony.

9 Reminders:  Return signed contract and dues by February 20 th  Meetings are on the 1 st Monday of the each month.
