2 Browsing the portal Providers gives you information on more than 500, of all types of, transport and logistics service providers. Clients gives you information on over 100 shippers e.g. manufacturers and retailers etc. Industries gives you information on industry vertical sectors e.g. automotive, high tech etc. To start browsing just click on one of these buttons. The Regions and Countries categories provide you with a mix of economic, trade, geographic, demographic and transport infrastructure related data as well as market sizings, forecasts, market share information. Markets provides you with information on the key supply-side segments such as Contract Logistics, Express, Freight Forwarding for example.

3 Providers As a worked example, we will guide you through using the Providers category. First click on the Providers button as shown above. This will bring you to the page below. Over 500 logistics service providers’ company profiles are listed. For guidance, companies which have three red squares by the side of their names have the most information, whilst those with one square contain the least. These are usually smaller companies. Companies with three red squares are listed in the left hand column. At the same time the Quick search facility appears. By typing in the first letter of the Providers name this will instantly display all the providers listed beginning with that letter so that you can quickly select the chosen provider.

4 Providers To access the profile click onto the name of the provider. This will bring you to the company profile of the company on which you have clicked, displaying the company’s logo.

5 Providers You will see a number of headings. To access the information contained under any of these headings just click anywhere on the bar next to it, or use the menu on the left hand side. Sections can then be closed by clicking once more on the heading bar or on the relevant heading within the left hand menu.

6 Providers – Major Contracts Under two sub-headings Mergers & Acquisitions and Major Contracts Listing you will find interactive ‘embedded’ databases. This is illustrated below: This database can be exported into Microsoft Excel. You also have the ability to search and manipulate the information contained in the database by clicking on the various symbols in the heading rank (indicated above).

7 Providers – Regions/Countries Under many headings you will notice sub-headings which can be either in RED, GREY or BLUE. For example this occurs under Regions showing in which region and country the logistics provider has a presence. When the Region is in Red this signifies that there is information about the specific provider’s operations in that region. If it is Blue a link will take you to the profile of that region. If it happens to be Grey (most often occurs in sister concerns/alliances) this signifies that we do not have a profile for it. Related countries signifies that we have information relating to the specific providers operations in a country within that region. Other related countries provides a list of countries in which the provider has operations, each with a link to a profile.

8 Providers – News/Briefs You will find all the Categories, Providers, Clients, Regions, Countries and Markets inter-related in this way allowing you to move between them all as you browse for information. Finally scroll down to the bottom of the Provider profile where you will find the latest Transport Intelligence News and Briefs appended.

9 Providers – News/Briefs Click on any of the titles to reveal the news item as below: Now scroll back up to the top of the page or click on heading bar. Click Top of the page on the left hand menu. Click once more on the Providers button on the top bar. This will take you back to the listing of all the companies.

10 Providers - Filter Now click on Show Filter Form: This will result in a number of dropdown boxes appearing:

11 Providers - Filter The Filter dropdown boxes allow you to shortlist companies: For example, if you wanted to find a list of German headquartered companies contained in the Portal, click on the arrow next to box entitled HQ Location and from the list of countries select Germany. The click Filter. This will provide the results shown above. A similar tool exists in the Clients category.

12 You are also able to rank Providers by using the following steps: Click the Providers button once more to return to the main listing of logistics providers. Then click Rank providers by revenue here as below: This will take you to the following screen. Providers - Ranking

13 You can choose which Currency you want the data displayed in by clicking on the dropdown box next to Show revenues in At this point you also have the option to export the ranking into Microsoft Excel format. Providers - Ranking

14 Search There is another way of accessing data in the Portal which may be more useful when looking for specific information – via the Search Site. This works along the lines of a Search Engine such as Google or Yahoo and should be very familiar. On any page the Search Site box will appear in the left hand column as shown below: You can enter a search word here and click on go. This will take you to the following page:

15 Search If you wish to confine your search to one of the categories: Providers, Clients, Industries, Regions, Countries and Markets, use the Category dropdown box. This will search for the word or string you input into the Search for box in that category alone. Alternatively leave that entry as All to search the whole Portal. Next to the Match heading are two radial buttons. Checking the any search words button will result in a wider search, returning results for all terms selected. Checking the all search words radial button will return just the results which contain all the words in the search string.

16 Search If you enter the search string ‘China Shipping’ and check the any search words circle, over 2000 results are returned ranked in order of relevance.

17 Search However if you check the all search words radial button over 300 results are returned as can be seen below:

18 Search As an example of the effect of filtering using the Category dropdown box, choosing Providers the selection is limited to over 170 results as indicated below: These results contain information which appears in the Providers Category and which includes both the search words ‘China’ and ‘Shipping’.

19 Search To narrow your search further you can enclose the search criteria in inverted commas. This function has produced nearly 70 results which include the phrase “China shipping”.

20 Definitions To help users of the portal with terminology Transport Intelligence has included a Definitions button which contains a glossary of terms used and also key definitions. This is available by clicking on Definitions in the top right hand corner of the screen.
