3 Why Open Access? To increase the speed of disseminating research results To increase the reach of your research To level the playing field and allow anyone access to content – not just subscribers Research that is funded by public dollars should be freely available to the public

4 What are the benefits to me?
Greater access to your content means more downloads of your work Many research studies have shown that citations increase for open access articles Opportunities for new collaborations - especially interdisciplinary collaboration Less time spent responding to requests for access to articles hidden behind paywalls

5 How do I publish Open Access?
You can archive a copy of your work in a repository like the UT Digital Repository (called the Green route to OA) You can publish with an open access publisher (called the Gold route to OA)

6 How do I get my research in a repository?
You can usually submit directly to subject-based repositories like arXiv You can send a copy of your research to to get your research in UT Digital Repository

7 How can I find an open access publisher?
