Korea Communist govt. led by Kim Il-Sung elected - Parliamentary elections for the Democratic People's Republic of Korea held later in Aug. 1948 - Cult of Personality - Kim Il-Sung had already implemented land reform and nationalized industries - Leader of a previous provisional government Frequent guerilla raids launched against South - North was better equipped and had stronger economy - Increased in tempo between 1948 and 1950 Both North and South wanted to unify Korea under their own governments
