2. Planning Your Future What does this mean to you?

3. Key Concepts:  Contingency: anticipating an event that may occur in the future that may require a change in plans.  Long-term Goal: A goal that is set for three to seven years into the future.

4. Contingency Goals  What are your contingency goals?  Do you set these at the time you set your dream goal?  How many do you set?

5. Short & Long Term Goals  What are your: short-term goals? long-term goals?  What is your process for setting goals?

6. Goals  How do you know when your goals are set appropriately?  How do you stay motivated?

7. Goals Should be SMART  Specific: are your goals particular, detailed, and your tasks clearly defined?  Measurable: can you identify a way to evaluate your progress to know when you have reached your goals?  Action-oriented: have you set steps, or actions, on a time line so you can measure your interim progress?

8. Goals Should be SMART  Realistic: can you reach these goals, but they are not too easy?  Timely: can you begin taking action on these goals immediately?

9. Career Networking  Don’t be ashamed to ask for help.  Networking is a two-way street.  Network contacts should be nurtured, even when not needed.  Treat networking like you do your friendships, with care and respect.
