3 ATTENDANCE THE CAR RIDER LINE WILL CLOSE AT 8:20. AFTER 8:20 PARENTS/GUARDIANS MUST BRING THEIR CHILD TO THE OFFICE AND SIGN THEM IN. GOOD SCHOOL ATTENDANCE IS ONE OF THE KEYS TO SUCCESS- IF YOUR CHILD IS ABSENT THEY SHOULD BRING A WRITTEN EXPLANATION OF THE ABSENCE AND ARE EXPECTED TO MAKE UP ALL WORK MISSED.

4 DRESS CODE *STRAP OF SHIRT MUST BE AT LEAST 3 FINGERS WIDE *NO SHIRTS CUT DOWN LOW UNDER THE ARM *SHORTS MUST BE PAST FINGERTIPS *PANTS MUST BE AT WAIST AS NOT TO REVEAL UNDERGARMENTS OR SKIN *NO HATS OR HEAD SCARVES *NO CLOTHING WITH OFFENSIVE LANGAUGE PLEASE REVIEW THE COUNTY POLICY ON DRESS CODE

5 Fifth Grade Discipline Plan (Strike System) NO GUM NO HATS OR HEAD SCARVES KEEP HANDS AND FEET TO YOURSELF NO FOUL LANGUAGE NO CHEATING, STEALING, OR LYING NO DISRESPECT NO DEFACING OF PUBLIC PROPERTY NO HORSEPLAY NO EXCESSIVE TALKING OR INTERRUPTING IN CLASS IF TEACHER IS SPEAKING, STUDENTS MUST STAY IN SEAT HAVE MATERIALS FOR CLASS STUDENTS MUST HAVE PERMISSION FROM TEACHER TO BE DISMISSED THREE NO HOMEWORKS WILL RESULT IN A STRIKE **FIGHTING WILL RESULT IN THREE STRIKES

6 STRIKE CONSEQUENCES 1 STRIKE=NO RECESS 2 STRIKES=NO RECESS AND SILENT LUNCH 3 STRIKES=NO RECESS- SILENT LUNCH- NO END-OF-THE- MONTH-FREE-TIME AND NOTE HOME TO PARENTS 4 STRIKES=NO RECESS- SILENT LUNCH –NO END -OF-THE-MONTH FREE-TIME- NOTE HOME TO PARENTS AND CONFERENCE WITH PRINCIPAL 5 STRIKES=NO RECESS- SILENT LUNCH –NO END -OF-THE-MONTH – FREE-TIME- NOTE HOME TO PARENTS – CONFERENCE WITH PRINCIPAL AND CONFERENCE/PHONE CALL WITH PARENT AND NO RECESS FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE MONTH MORE THAN 5 STRIKES=CONSEQUENCE TO BE DETERMINED BY PRINCIPAL

7 DISCIPLINE PLAN *EVERY STUDENT’S NAME WILL BE IN A NOTEBOOK *EVERY STRIKE WILL BE RECORDED IN THE NOTEBOOK AND THE STUDENT WILL SIGN *A STUDENT WITH LESS THAN THREE STRIKES AT THE END OF EACH MONTH MAY PARTICIPATE IN END- OF-THE-MONTH-FREE-TIME

8 HOMEWORK/CLASSWORK POLICY HOMEWORK\CLASSWORK WILL BE COUNTED AS A PERCENTAGE OF STUDENT’S GRADE IF STUDENT DOES NOT HAVE HOMEWORK/CLASSWORK, HE OR SHE MUST MAKE IT UP DURING RECESS THAT DAY. THREE NO HOMEWORKS WILL RESULT IN A STRIKE

9 AGENDA *THE AGENDA SHOULD BE CHECKED AND SIGNED BY PARENT OR GUARDIAN EACH NIGHT. *ALL SCHOOL NOTES AND DATES WILL BE WRITTEN IN AGENDA BY STUDENT *THE TEACHER WILL CHECK AS NEEDED *TEACHERS AND PARENTS CAN COMMUNICATE THROUGH AGENDA AS NEEDED *IF AGENDA ISN’T SIGNED STUDENT WILL HAVE SILENT LUNCH. *PLEASE CHECK YOUR CHILD’S TAKE HOME FOLDER FOR GRADED PAPERS AND NOTES FROM THE SCHOOL

10 LUNCHROOM POLICY STUDENTS MUST REPORT TO BREAKFAST WHEN THEY ENTER THE BUILDING. THEY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE BUS DUTY TO GO BACK TO EAT BREAKFAST NO SOFT DRINKS FOOD AND DRINKS MUST STAY IN CAFETERIA. THE VOLUME IN THE LUNCHROOM MUST BE KEPT AT A LOW LEVEL THE FIRST TEN MINUTES OF LUNCH WILL BE “SILENT EATING TIME.”

11 Rhea Valley Elementary School Playground Rules Nothing is more exciting to a kid than a great playground. However, play areas need to be properly designed, maintained, and supervised to be as safe for kids as possible. We want your child to be safe during recess. These rules are designed to be used on playgrounds where many children are playing at one time. Please go over these rules with your child and discuss with them that outside play is much different when the playground is shared with several classes. 1. Students will keep their hands, feet and objects to themselves. a. Fighting is absolutely forbidden and will result in a referral to the principal. Hitting, pushing, or play fighting is not allowed. b. No wrestling, tripping, or shoving. c. Throwing sticks, rocks, mulch or other objects is prohibited. 2. Swings - a. Must swing in a back and forth motion. b. No jumping out of swing. c. One person on a swing at a time. d. No going from side to side, stomach swinging, or twisting in a swing. e. No pushing f. No holding hands while swinging. g. Grabbing hands, feet, arms, or legs is forbidden. h. No climbing on poles of swings or standing/running between swingers

12 3. Slides - a. One person can go down the slide at a time. b. Slide down, sitting on bottom, with feet in front. Do not slide on stomach c. Climbing up the slide is not allowed. d. Do not block or prevent others from sliding down the slide. e. Do not jump from the top of the slide. 4. Equipment – a. A lot of the playground equipment is made for hanging. Students should not sit/stand on or jump off equipment made for hanging. b. Students should not jump from equipment higher than the student is tall. c. When playground is wet, students should not be on equipment. d. Students should remain in designated areas in sight of the Playground Supervisors. 5. Shelter – a. The shelter should be used for sitting and resting in the shade. b. Do not run on pavement c. Do not stand on the picnic tables. d. Respect school property. Do not write or draw on shelter or tables. 6. Attire – a. Flip Flops are dangerous when climbing on equipment. Tennis shoes are preferred. b. Long dresses can get caught on equipment and get caught under foot. Please be mindful about clothing options.
