Cuba 1961 – Formal diplomatic and economic relations were severed between the U.S. & Cuba December 2014 – President Obama announced diplomatic and economic changes toward Cuba. January 2015 – Commerce (BIS) & Treasury (OFAC) published revised regulations –Travel to Cuba for authorized purposes without the need for a license. 12 permitted conditions for travel Authorized U.S. travel service to Cuba

Cuba Allow U.S. financial institutions to open correspondent accounts at Cuban financial institutions to facilitate some commercial transactions. –U.S. insurers can provide coverage. Allow a number of other activities related to, among other areas, telecommunications, financial services, trade and shipping. July 2015 – U.S. Embassies opened. September 2015 – Some additional revisions to BIS and OFAC license exceptions
