2 This project involves the study of an artist and an imitation of the Artist’s painting style onto an object. For example: Pablo Picasso shoes Paul Gaugin ball cap George Seurat backpack Leondardo da Vinci cd player Vincent Van Gogh coffee mug Tom Thompson binder David Hockney hockey helmet Henri Matisse jewellery box

3 Step 1: Select an artist’s painting that you admire – you will be reproducing this art on your object so choose carefully Step 2: Research the artist and complete the artist profile worksheet

22 Step 2: Prime your objet d’art with white acrylic paint (two coats may be needed) Step 3: Use pencil to sketch the artwork that you have chosen to imitate onto your object Step 4: Paint your object using acrylic paint

25 Step 5: Collect your objet d’art, your painting that inspired your artwork, and your artist profile worksheet. We will be having a class critique where we discuss our art objects and the artists who inspired us.

26 Student Objectives: Students will analyze forms of art from a variety of artists, historical and/or contemporary Students will use analytical and critical thought to respond to art works and infer meanings Students will initiate and develop ideas for art-making, transpose these ideas into art forms using a variety of media, and reflect upon their processes and their completed works within the contexts of visual art Assessment: Objectives /5 - Craftsmanship /5 – Participation /5
