1 WALT: To compare ideas, methods and approaches of others work. WILF: create an artwork in the style of Vincent Van Gogh Weeks 7 & 8

2 Starter Styles of Art change like styles of fashion. Each different style is called a movement. Look at all of these artworks. They are all from different movements, but there are many more!! Cubism An early 20 th century movement created by Pablo Picasso. Artists tried to bring different views of their subjects together in the same picture.

Pop-Art Pop art describes the work of artists working in the 1950’s and 60’s in Britain and America- who drew inspiration from popular and commercial culture.

Pointillism Artists like Georges Seurat from France, used tiny dots of colour to produce their paintings. Up close these paintings would look like random spots, but when you view from a distance, your eyes merge the colours together.

Impressionism They aimed to capture light, colour and everyday scenes, and is perhaps one of the best known painting movements. Henri Mattisse, Van Gogh and Claude Monet use this style.

9 Using your photo, lightly draw the outline of your subject onto paper. No detail. Then using these images as a reference, Try to emulate Van Gogh’s techniques to create your own image! Colour- things are never just black Line- lines are painted in the direction of the object Texture- Use mark marking to show texture and different surfaces
