8. HIV/AIDS POSITIVE: New HIV infections fell by approximately 40 percent between 2000 and 2013. NEGATIVE: Globally, an estimated 35 million people were still living with HIV in 2013.

9. Malaria and Other Diseases Between 2000 and 2015, there was a 58 percent decline in malaria mortality rates. Tuberculosis prevention and treatment have saved around 37 million lives between 2000 and 2013. Increase in use of treated bed nets to reduce malaria infections.
