3 New England  States: Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Maine  Features: ○ Appalachain Mountains ○ Atlantic Ocean ○ Hot to Mild Summers ○ Cold winters  Intellectual: ○ Many top colleges and universities are located in New England

4 Northeast  States: ○ Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey  Features: ○ Appalachian Mountains ○ Great Lakes  Political: ○ Nations Capital is located in Washington DC

5 Southeast  States: ○ Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas  Features: ○ Appalachian Mountains ○ High and low lands ○ Coastal Regions ○ Many rivers = good soil for farming  Religion ○ Known as the Bible Belt of the United States because of the heavy influence of Religion

6 Great Lakes  States: ○ Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio  Features ○ Great Lakes ○ Mississippi River and Ohio River ○ Long Cold Winters ○ Short Hot Summers  Economic: ○ The Great Lakes region produces many of the Country’s dairy products

9 Mountain  States: ○ Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana  Features: ○ Mountainous ○ Valleys ○ Deserts ○ Lakes and Rivers  Area: ○ The Mountain region refers to an area of the United States

10 West/Pacific  States: ○ California, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, Alaska  Features: ○ Thousands of miles of Coastline ○ Beaches ○ Farmlands  Technology: ○ Silicon Valley in California is responsible for many technological advances
