2 Teresa Frączkiewicz, Katarzyna Staniszewska In most EU countries there are noticeable changes in the educational process in the area of education. There is even a talk about changing the paradigm of education as a result of the implementation of new technologies in teaching and learning processes. While facing the constant development of new technologies, the need to modernize teaching methodology emphasizes getting stronger - learners need new incentives to stimulate curiosity. Getting accustomed to the daily facilities raises the expectation that they will also take their place in education.  Ewa Lubina

3 Teresa Frączkiewicz, Katarzyna Staniszewska  Methodological considerations of m-learning In recent years, there has been a noticeable increase of activity in the implementation of modern teaching  methodologies which activate teaching processes based on ICT-technologies. This is a stimulus for change in all areas of the teaching processes, such as:  modernization of working methods;

4 Teresa Frączkiewicz, Katarzyna Staniszewska  introduction of new practices and laboratories lessons, learning time;  a change in the selection, presentation and methods of distribution of teaching materials;  a change in methods and organization of the work of teachers, pupils and students;  a change in the organization and settlement of working hours;

 improvement of working methods;  personalization of learning profiles (adaptation to the needs of individual learners);  changing group work methods;  changing the assessment of students and pupils achievements;  a changing the way of supporting the learners. 5 Teresa Frączkiewicz, Katarzyna Staniszewska

E-learning specialists has signaled the need for such changes for a long time. Traditional methodological structure enriched with e-learning and often with m-learning, is a way 6 Teresa Frączkiewicz, Katarzyna Staniszewska to the quality of teaching improvement. The dynamics of learning is based on the alternating use of different ways of learning: a student attends traditional classes and additionally learns using the materials sent to him via the Internet or downloaded from mobile devices

7 Teresa Frączkiewicz, Katarzyna Staniszewska During the process students have the possibility to comment on the materials, projects or tasks and participate in various forms of group work. The teachers plan substantive work oorganization and the ICT specialists plan the technical side. It is obvious that, the youth generation is now accustomed to variety and expects more than ever dynamism and intellectual stimulations. The methodological structures which combine different forms of work satisfy these conditions. 8 In the academic education the constant attempts to introduce new technologies into the learning process - in the case of m- learning are still weak, they can be assumed to be rather some kind of experiments. The use of mobile technologies has become an urgent need and answers the students expectations. In 2005 at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia in Spain an interesting experience was implemented. The introduced system combined the traditional teaching methodology, e-learning patterns and creation of new patterns with the use of m- learning methods. 8 Teresa Frączkiewicz, Katarzyna Staniszewska

The effectiveness of the project was highly appreciated. Schools which took part in it, praise the use of mobile devices in teaching and learning, because of it technical and methodological attractiveness in teaching, its educational value, interactivity, as a stimulant of students’ motivation, flexibility, even because it allowed them to cut the costs. 9 Teresa Frączkiewicz, Katarzyna Staniszewska

In the academic experience m-learning proved to be a powerful technology which has a great opportunity for the future development. The opinion is based on the fact that almost all the students have mobile phones, and many of them have a PDA too. The growing access to the mobile devices as well as the improvement in communication in the learning process allow better use of both the students and teachers learning potential and also individualizes and increases the intensity of the process. 10 Teresa Frączkiewicz, Katarzyna Staniszewska

Learning supported by mobile technology in the Spanish enterprise focuses on learners. All applications concentrate on the activities performed by the student. The system uses ten applications, most of them are operated by mobile phones. 11 Teresa Frączkiewicz, Katarzyna Staniszewska

 Traditional methodological structure enriched with e-learning and often with m-learning, is a perfect way to improve the quality of teaching. It goes without saying that the generation of young people is accustomed to variety so the youth, more than ever expect dynamism and intellectual stimulations. The methodological structure combining different forms of work satisfy these conditions. 12 Teresa Frączkiewicz, Katarzyna Staniszewska
