Saved and Secure

Question to you  How can a believer know that his/her act of continuous disobedience to God is not a sign of unbelief?  Is it possible that this person is NOT SAVED?

News flash … No one can be converted by hearing the words that you want to hear, but only by the Truth that you need to hear!

“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges judges the thoughts and attitude of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12

3 Stages of Salvation RRRRegeneration This is instantaneous! 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the n nn new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! Galatians 6:15 Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the n nn new creation.

 Regeneration Saved “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

 Regeneration Born again In reply Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.” John 3:3

 Regeneration Converted (repent or turn away from our sins) “I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

 Regeneration Justified “…I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sin is proclaimed to you. Through him everyone who believes is justified …” Acts 13:38b,39a

 Regeneration Redeemed “and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:24

1 st Stage of Salvation  Regeneration Saved Born again Converted Justified Redeemed

2 nd Stage of Salvation RRegeneration SSSSanctification While regeneration is instantaneous, sanctification is progressive.

Holiness is the result of the progressive process “As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: Be holy, because I am holy.” 1Peter 1:14

They are godless men, who change the grace of our God into a license for immorality and deny Jesus Christ our only Sovereign and Lord. 5 Though you already know all this, I want to remind you that the Lord [c] delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day.c Jude 1:3-6

As soon as you do not desire to become better, then you have ceased to be good good. Bernard of Clarvaux

sin SLAVE to sin Death [crucified with Christ] baptism from slave to Son

sin Slave to sin Death [crucified with Christ] baptism from slave to Son Romans 5:19 19 For just as through the disobedience of the one man the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the one man the many will be made righteous. Psalm 51:5 5 Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me.

Slave To sin sin Death [crucified with Christ] baptism from slave to Son Romans 6:16 16 Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone to obey him as slaves, you are slaves to the one whom you obey— whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?

Death [crucified with Christ] baptism Galatians 2:20 20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. sin Slave to sin from slave to Son

Baptism Death to old self 7 because anyone who has died has been freed from sin Romans 6:7 Burial 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death Romans 6:4a Resurrection of new self just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life Romans 6:4b sin Slave to sin Death [crucified with Christ]

from slave to Son Galatians 4:7 7 So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, God has made you also an heir. sin Slave to sin Death [crucified with Christ] Baptism

3rd Stage of Salvation RRegeneration SSanctification GGGGlorification While regeneration is instantaneous, sanctification is progressive, glorification is the ultimate stage.

“Who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.” Phil 3:21 Glory (DOXA) in the NT means “manifestation of perfection and righteousness.”

3 Stages of Salvation RRegeneration – salvation from the penalty of sin

SSanctification – salvation from the power of sin  Regeneration

3 Stages of Salvation GGlorification – salvation from the presence of sin  Sanctification  Regeneration

Jesus reminds us to pick up our cross daily, Paul tells us “I die everyday …” (1 Cor 5:13a) Our victory over sin gives us the freedom to choose obedience to our Father.

Saved and Secure their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. 14 If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. 15 If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames. 1 Cor 3:11-15
