6. DAY 2 Direct object – receives the action of the verb in a sentence and tells whom or what is affected by the verb’s action Ex. Maria fixed the bike. 7. Mechanics and Usage: Quotation Marks and Dialogue

DAY 3  Use quotation marks before and after someone’s exact words.  Begin a quotation with a capital letter.  Commas and periods always appear inside quotation marks.  If a quotation comes at the end of a sentence, use a period, question mark, or exclamation point to end it.  If a sentence continues after a quotation is given, use a comma, question mark, or exclamation point to close the quotation.
