1 Object Pronouns An object pronoun is used as a direct object, an indirect object, or an object of a preposition.

2 Subject PronounsObject Pronouns I (am Batman) You (are Batman) He, she, or it (is Batman) We (are Batman and Catwoman) They (are Batman and Catwoman) Subject is doing Me (You scared me.) You (I scared you.) Him, Her, It (I scared him, her, or it.) Us (He scared us.) Them (We scared them.) Object is done to

3 Direct objects… The pronoun receives the action of a verb and answers the question whom or what. – Bad storms scare me. (Me is the direct object because it answers the question: scare whom?) – Do you like them? (like what? Them)

4 Indirect Objects… The pronoun tells to whom or what or for whom or what an action is performed. – Give me an explanation of how hurricanes form. (Me answers the question: to whom? And explanation is what is being given so it is the indirect object.) – I told him the story of Hurricane Floyd.

5 Objects of a Preposition… The pronoun follows a preposition (such as to, from, for, against, by, or about). – When he sees big storms, he runs from them. (from is the preposition and them is the object) – The storm is coming straight at us.

6 Always use object pronouns after the preposition between – It’s a contest between him and me. (NOT between he and I.)
