3. M EN ’ S FASHION Plain suits Typically black or navy with a white shirt Oversized jackets Ties and high cut trousers Wingtip spectator shoes Fedoras were worn by everyone including the president Long coats after the war ended Hand painted ties

C HILDREN ’ S FASHION Influenced by World War 2 Boys wore jeans and T-shirts Long trousers were more popular than short trousers Saddle shoes worn by both girls and boys Girls wore dresses Wool coats to keep warm Started dressing casual with shorts and long trousers Teenagers wore sport sweaters and skirts

5. T ECHNOLOGY Colored television invented in 1940 The computer was invented in 1942 Trolleys to get from place to place First atom bomb invented in 1945 The microwave oven was invented in 1946 Used washboards and tubs to clean clothes
