2 Early Years -Born June 16 th 1874 in Anderson, Ontario -Graduated from the University of Toronto -Graduated from the Osgoode Hall Law School in 1904 -Moved to Winnipeg where he articling with a local law firm -Moved to Portage La Prairie in 1903 taking over a law firm there

3 Rise to Power -After arriving at Portage La Prarrrie he joind the Young Men's Conservative Club (which as no relation to the YMCA)‏ -Ran in the 1908 election and was elected into the House of Commons -His amazing ability to debate caught the attention of the Conservative party leader -His insightful views into government helped the conservatives pass bills -was made Solicitor General after the bill was passed -Four years after he was made secretary of State (1917)‏ -Became minister of the Interrior -Helped create the Canadian National Railway as well as acting as the minister of Justice and ending the Winnipeg General Strike in 1919 Its fun to stay at the Y.M.C.C!!

4 Positions in Politics -Was Prime Minister for two Terms -First term (July 10 th 1920-December 29 1921)‏ -Became Prime Minister in the 1920's Succeeding the last Conservative Prime Minister (Prime Minister Boden having resigned for retirement)‏ -Lost the 1921 election and Meighen became leader of the opposition -Second Term (June 29 th 1926-September 25 th 1926)‏ -Meighen was appointed Prime Minister after the Majority government was threatened I don't like the Military Conscription Act True that Riot Police are lame. We just wanted better wages.

5 The Final Years -Retired after the “King-Byng affair” -He was appointed to the senate -joined a Investment firm in Toronto in 1932 -Died in Toronto Ontario August 5 th 1960 YOU JUST GOT BYNG'D!

6 In My Opinion as a Prime Minister... He get's:  Out of a possible:  Arthur Meighen influenced government much more before he was elected as PM.

7 Cool Facts: Had a Mountain Named after him This mountain, its in BC too-------------------------> I'm Named Mt. Arthur Meighen
