Cybot and OSCAR Elementary School Tutorial Dec02-03 December 10, 2002 Client: Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Advisors: Dr. Lamont, Dr. Patterson, and Dr. Genalo Team Members: Jenny Golder, Waqas Nazir, Joshua Sloan, Jasmine Staggers

Outline  Problem Statement  Design Objectives  Intended Use & Uses  Technical Problem  Design Constraints  End of Product Description  Assumptions  Limitations

Outline  Risks and Concerns  Technical Approach  Evaluation of Project Success  Recommendations for Further Work  Human and Financial Budgets  Lessons Learned

Problem Statement  Since engineers are in high demand it is necessary to educate more people in the field of engineering. By introducing science and engineering to young students, particularly grades three through six, they will gain a better appreciation for necessary scientific skills. Therefore by creating software and the necessary tutorials to accompany Cybot and/or OSCAR, students will gain more knowledge and interest in pursuing an engineering related field.

Design Objectives – Functionality  Interactive Software  Introduction  Tutorials  Teacher Materials

Intended Use & Users  Students grades 4-6  The end project will be a room-to-room experiment

Design Constraints  Platforms  Ease of Operation  Video

End of Product Description  What is Engineering?  Tutorials  Software  Teacher Materials

Assumptions  Users have necessary knowledge  Robots will Function Correctly  Suitable Hardware  Awareness of students capabilities
