Problem Statement General Solution – Approach Statement The team will focus on clean design and implementation of sensor systems, an end effector, speech recognition abilities, and a remote graphical user interface. OSCAR is an autonomous speech controlled robot created to be an interesting, hands on demonstration of the technical skills learned by students in the engineering programs. Using power delivery, computer software, a sonar array, motors and a mechanical arm in a student designed and implemented end product, OSCAR provides a platform to display the extent of the engineering capabilities at Iowa State University. By the end of the semester, the College of Engineering will have a robotic ambassador to show potential students and benefactors the achievement level of Iowa State students.
