14 Expected implementation of Health SDGs in Viet Nam (1)
Target 3.1 By 2030, reduce the global maternal mortality ratio to less than 70/100,000 live births: Current maternal mortality ration in Viet Nam: 58,3/100,000 live births Current global maternal mortality ratio: 210/100,000 live births Target 3.2 By 2030, end preventable deaths of newborns and children under 5 years of age: In Viet Nam: in 2014, mortality of children < 1 year was 14,9 %o, mortality of children < 5 year was 22,7 %o Possible, if continuous investment and decrease of disparities among groups and regions

15 Expected implementation of Health SDGs in Viet Nam (2)
Target 3.3 By 2030, end the epidemics of AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and neglected tropical diseases and combat hepatitis, water-borne diseases and other communicable diseases: Numerous challenges, due to inappropriate behaviour, people’ low awareness of disease prevention, lack of dengue vaccine and drugs, continuous increase of people living with HIV... Target 3.4 By 2030, reduce by one third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment and promote mental health and well-being High mortality due to NCD (cardio vascular, cancer, COPD, diabetes) in Viet Nam: 63,34 %o in 2009 to 69,63 %o in 2014 Risk factors: tobacco, alcohol, diet, physical activities... Necessity of intersectoral collaboration

16 Expected implementation of Health SDGs in Viet Nam (3)
Target 3.5 Strengthen the prevention and treatment of substance abuse, including narcotic drug abuse and harmful use of alcohol High consumption of alcohol, beer in Viet Nam: 3 billion litters of beer and 68 million litters of wine in 2013, equivalent to 3 billion $ US, 1,8% of GDP One of 25 countries with highest increase of alcohol consumption per capita Lots of challenges, for example: inefficient legal documents/regulatory, ineffective cross sectoral collaboration in the control of alcohol production, commerce and consumption, limited legal awareness of people on harmful use of alcohol Target 3.6 By 2020, halve the number of global deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents Viet Nam is one of countries with highest deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents Difficulties and the need of intersectoral collaboration

17 Expected implementation of Health SDGs in Viet Nam (4)
Target 3.7 By 2030, ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health-care services Possibility, if MDG 5b’s achievements are maintained and resources are properly mobilized. Target 3.8 Achieve universal health coverage, including financial risk protection, access to quality essential health-care services and access to safe, effective, quality and affordable essential medicines and vaccines for all. Viet Nam’s achievements in UHC: growingly development of primary health care network, high health insurance coverage 75%, improved quality and quantity of health care services... Still lots of challenges: limited integration of preventive and curative healthcare services provision, over-crowed hospital, disparities among groups and regions on the access of health care services, low public investment for health, OPP 47%...

18 Expected implementation of Health SDGs in Viet Nam (5)
Target 3.9 By 2030, substantially reduce the number of deaths and illnesses from hazardous chemicals and air, water and soil pollution and contamination Challenges: water pollution, air pollution... along with industrialization and urbanization in Viet Nam => health problems, such as respiratory infection, lung cancer, COPD... One of 10 countries with highest air pollution (Environmental Performance Index-EPI report 2012) Requirements of intersectoral collaboration and a-whole-society
