2 WHAT IS RYLA? RYLA is a leadership program coordinated by various Rotary Clubs around the globe Participants are chosen for their leadership potential. The format of each event varies from district to district.

3 U.S. Space and Rocket Center
Rotary District 6860 Hosts RYLA at the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama

4 RYLA District 6860 Organized by the Rotary Clubs of Greater Huntsville, Downtown Huntsville, and Madison. There are no fees for participants as all RYLA fees are paid for by sponsoring Rotary Clubs. In 2016 Rotary Club of Greater Huntsville is responsible for designing the program including: Speakers Mini-Space Camp Rotaract Service Projects

5 Who participates in RYLA?
High School Sophmores, Juniors, and Seniors throughout the District Selection is based on: Academnic Achievements Community Services Hobbies Recreations and Sports Approximately 100 to 120 students

6 What does RYLA offer? Learn the principles of Rotary including the Four-Way Test Meet Rotary and Rotaract members Learn about Rotary programs for youth such as Interact Gain exposure to issues and exchange ideas Learn how to coordinate youth activities and services projects in their schools and community Discuss creative approaches for resolving family, social, and professional conflicts and issues.

8 Rachel’s Challenge Is Featured at RYLA
Rachel’s Challenge is a Non-Profit program that is based on the writings and life of Rachel Scott. Mission is to “motivate, educate, and bring positive change to many young people.” Campaign to quell school violence, bullying and teen suicide.

9 Rotaract Is a Rotary-Based High School Club
RYLA Participants work with Rotaract to create an imaginary Interact Club. The “Interact Club” has a project to discuss and is tasked with addressing an issue that affect their age group: Cyber Bullying Homeless Teenagers Illiteracy among High School Students Lunch Nutrition Social Media Impact
