1 PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS This presentation will briefly highlight the MSOM program requirements. More in-depth information for each topic can be found on our website under the “Academics” banner. Our undergraduate prerequisites which must be completed before a student can register for their 5th graduate level course. The Ten graduate courses (30 credit hours). Four Required/Core Courses Six Elective Courses The comprehensive exam

2 UNDERGRAD PREREQUISITE REQUIREMENTS
In order for an undergrad course to meet the prerequisite requirement, the student must have earned a grade of “C” or better from their undergraduate program. The following prerequisite courses taken in the student’s undergraduate coursework do not have an expiration date: OMGT 4323 – Industrial Cost Analysis (Accounting) OMGT 4333 – Applied Statistics OMGT 4853 – Introduction to Decision Support Tools in OM All students beginning the program in Fall 2014 and beyond are required to take the OMGT 4853 proficiency exam or the 8-week online course. This prereq. must be met within the first two 8-week sessions. OMGT 4313 – Law & Ethics This is no longer a program requirement but is required for OMGT 5113, 5143, 5252, and 5733)

3 OPTIONS FOR SATISFYING PREREQUISTES
A student may have completed a similar course in their undergraduate course work. We identify such similar courses in our regular evaluation of student transcripts during the admission process. Prerequisites that the student must meet are specified in their admission letter. If we have overlooked a course, or if a student feels they have met a prerequisite, but with a course for which the course name was not sufficiently descriptive, they can send us a course description and/or syllabus for further review. A student can take all prerequisites through the Operations Management program; the tuition and technology fee charges and term schedule are the same as a graduate course. A student can take an equivalent course at another accredited school, but should first provide the site coordinator with the course title and description for approval. (Except OMGT 4853) A student can opt for one attempt to pass the OMGT 4853 on-line proficiency exam in lieu of the course.  Earning a grade of at least 70% on the exam (the grade will not to be used in calculating the student’s MSOM GPA) will satisfy the respective prerequisite.

4 FOUR REQUIRED COURSES For students beginning the MSOM program in August 2011 or later, the four required courses listed below must be completed within the first 18 hours of graduate study: OMGT 5003—Introduction to Operations Management (preferably taken as the first graduate course in your first 8-week session, or in special circumstances, in the second 8-week session.) OMGT 5783—Project Management for Operations Managers OMGT 5123—Finance for Operations Managers or OMGT 5463—Economic Decision-Making OMGT 5623—Strategic Management Additionally, students must earn a grade of “B” or higher in all required courses. If a student earns a “C” grade or lower in a required course, the course must be repeated as soon as possible as determined by the program administration and can be repeated only one time. Failure to earn a grade of “B” or better on the second attempt will lead to dismissal from the program.

5 COMPREHENSIVE EXAM To be eligible for the examination, the student must have completed: All prerequisite courses and At least Eight “OMGT” Graduate courses (including all four required graduate courses). This does not include approved graduate transfer credit. Completing six OMGT courses and transferring in two courses does not make a student eligible for comps. A student who transferred in one or two courses will be tested on the material as if they took the equivalent OMGT course(s) through us.  The student is given the result immediately upon completion of the exam.

6 COMP EXAM DELIVERY OPTIONS
The oral exam panel consists of 3-4 faculty members. Skype or Blackboard Collaborate website administration of the oral exam is available only if a face-to-face comprehensive exam is not possible. The written version of the comp exam is available: For students with extenuating circumstances that prevent their participating in the oral examination or As a secondary option for students who have attempted the oral exam once, but did not pass.
