Grade 10 Physics Welcome 10Sc1! What is physics (again)?
G9/10 science course – Your 6th Trimester What is physics (again)? Your friend asks you what physics is about – write down 3 things you tell him/her.
2
Grade 10 Welcome & Introduction
What is physics? Study of the natural world around us From the very small sub-atomic particles to the very large stars, galaxies, universe.
3
Grade 10 Welcome & Introduction
To study of the natural world around us we look at: Motion (G10) speed, acceleration, forces, orbits Heat (G9) temperature, heat capacity, transfer, insulation Waves (G10) wave behaviour in light, sound, water Electricity (G9) charges, currents, voltage, power Atomic/Nuclear (IB) fission, fusion, power, bombs Astrophysics (IB) stars, universe, cosmos. (Is there anything missing above?) To study this you need certain scientific skills:

Grade 10 Welcome & Introduction
Science Skills: List six science skills you use to study any science.
5
Grade 10 Welcome & Introduction
Science Skills: Observing the world around you Designing and completing investigations Experimenting safely Recording & processing data Drawing conclusions Evaluating your investigations Solving problems Being aware of science in the world around you.
