5. Solving a Two-Step Equation How can you get the “unknown” by itself? How can you get the “unknown” by itself? “Undo” operations by using the INVERSE (opposite) operation to both sides of the equation. Solving Two-Step Equations STEP 1- “Undo” addition and/or subtraction. STEP 2- “Undo” multiplication and/or division. STEP 3- Solve for the variable. STEP 4- Check your work. 3x + 5 = -19
