2. Lou Henry Hoover was born in Waterloo, Iowa on March 29, 1874. Her mother was Florence Weed Henry. Her father was Charles D. Henry.

3. Lou loved nature and spent as much time outdoors as she could, both as a child and as an adult.

4. Lou enjoyed sketching people and places wherever she went.

5. Lou received a teaching certificate from San Jose Normal School and a degree in geology from Stanford University.

12. Mr. & Mrs. Hoover were World Travelers. It is said that Bert and Lou traveled around the world five times before their oldest son turned eight years old.
