1 Firstly, place each t-shirt in water then wring out thoroughly. Lay out on a clean surface and find the centre of the t-shirt. (This will be almost 3cm below chest level). Pinch the centre then twist clockwise, keeping as close to surface as possible. Continue until all the t-shirt has been twisted into a circle. Place an elastic band horizontally, then vertically and two diagonally. The circle needs to be divided into eighths.

2 Place the banded t-shirt on the sink draining board over a container and colour each segment with a dye colour of your choice. Once you have saturated one side with dye, you will then need to turn the t-shirt over. But before you do……wipe the grill with a wet wipe. Then place the t-shirt back down and repeat the process.

3 Lay out on a clean surface and find the centre front of the t-shirt. Run your finger down to the bottom then fold in half. Place an elastic band in the centre, then cut that in half with a band, then half again. Ensure all elastic bands are tight. Use two colours to colour in alternative sections. Place strip into a sealable freezer bag and leave for 24 hours.

4 Lay out on a clean surface and scrunch the t-shirt up from bottom to top. Place an elastic band in the centre horizontally, then vertically then two diagonally dividing the circle into eight segments. Ensure all elastic bands are tight. Use two or more colours to colour in alternative sections. Place bundle into a sealable freezer bag and leave for 24 hours.
