10 10 Future cooperation  The way countries connect to EESSI allows for data to be entered in and extracted from national databases  Via EESSI direct exchange of relevant data with sister institution  Entries in national databases have to be accessible to the outside world e.g. check entitlement to medical care over internet via eEHIC  European Social Security Card? Proof of posting checked electronically at place of work? Can migrant workers use internet to view their accrued rights directly?

11 11 Conclusions  EESSI has a lot to offer.  EESSI in its present form is only 1st step on the way to an electronic data exchange system that will eventually ensure that the rights of migrant workers in Europe and throughout the world are safeguarded and dealt with quickly and efficiently.  Too ambitious? Why?
