 The study of professional athletes, and any participant in sports or physical activities.  It involves the analysis of the action of forces during the prepatory, force, and follow through movements of the skill  It can be used to diagnosis flaws or point out correct biomechanics in order to enhance performance

 Athletic stance  Ball is gripped by hand on the top; the thumb is opposite the middle finger; the other fingers are spread on the laces  As the ball is brought up behind the ear, plant the rear foot, step with the opposite foot in the direction of throw as arm is brought forward  Wrist is snapped downward and the palm of throwing hand is rotated outward as the ball is released, thus giving the ball a spiral motion..

Arm angle is close to or near 45 degrees as ball is being thrown forward to target Throwing arm is extended and still pointed at intended target Wrist and throwing hand is pointed downward after releasing the ball

 Feet are not positioned in an athletic stance  Eyes are not on the intended target  Ball is not gripped properly with hand on the top; the thumb is opposite the middle finger; the other fingers are spread on the laces  Rear foot is not planted as you step with opposite foot in the direction of the throw.  Releasing too late and hitting the ground or releasing too early causing the ball to go directly overhead or behind you

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5c_onhzgvc Y Although this video isn’t of a person throwing a football. Please think of answers to the following questions based upon the video. We will discuss the following questions shortly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5c_onhzgvc Y  1. Is this an example of good throwing mechanics or poor throwing mechanics?  2. What led you to that belief?  3. Based upon your answer to question #1, what might someone who believed this was good mechanics think? Poor mechanics?

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ7xfvF gZ1E https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xQ7xfvF gZ1E  Again, think of answers to these questions:  1. Is this an example of good or poor throwing mechanics?  2. Has your opinion been influenced by something or someone in the video?

 Below is a chart of muscles in the upper body, which muscles are being used to throw the ball?

 Now that we have gone over proper and improper throwing mechanics we will proceed to the football field to work on throwing.  With a partner that you will be assigned to in a minute, record each other throwing a football 5 times and analyze each other’s biomechanics.  Using the checklist check to make sure they are using the appropriate technique in throwing  Anyone without a phone, or recording device please see me and I have an Ipad, or other device that can be used for the activity.
