2. 2 Progress summary since CM21 South shield wall is making good progress False floor magnetic modelling complete and understood –Enabled steel supports to be finalised and order placed shortly North Wall – bottleneck with order in RAL understood Linde compressor arrives 20 th June (confirmed) KL is installed, cabling is in progress TOF0 – collection from Milan confirmed 24 th June Some orders placed for long-lead sliding beamstop parts Tracker readout system arrived from FNAL and is working

3. 3 Decay Solenoid The uprated compressor arrives on Friday,20 th June –About three weeks late, caused by supply of wrong parts to HPC, beyond our control. Then we install and pressure test compressor (by 28 th June) Then re-commission – Bastian Sollner, (by 7 th July) Three weeks of testing to achieve stable running system (28 th July) So this last date is the milestone for a powered solenoid These are strictly sequential events – no opportunity to work in parallel Poor vacuum in cryostat traced to water vapour – will condense/freeze when cold – OK Two minor physical leaks – are insignificant

4. 4 Infrastructure Progress South shield wall stairway is up About half the shield plates are fitted – less traumatic than we thought – Willie and men are doing a great job Problem with North wall support structure order is understood – order was authorised, but stalled further up the chain at RAL contracts – they withdrew previous permission for single tender David Pyke will complete written case to contracts on Monday Magnetic modelling of false floor support structure is approved – can go ahead with mild steel supports – great news, many thanks to Mike Courthold & Jim Rochford. Hope to place order now before end June. We have a quote and method for the mound excavation – will approve order tomorrow – work will be done in August DSA roof and walkway will be included in North Wall contract

5. 5 Infrastructure South Shield Wall Stairway & Plates

6. 6 Step One Installation Good progress: –KL and support frames, KL and TOF cables arrived at RAL in early June –Installation of KL is complete –Cabling is in progress –TOF0 will be collected from Milan by RAL van on 24 th June, arrive RAL 26 th June –TOF0 installation completed by 28 th June –Some discussion about TOF0 temp location – on front of Q7 (adaptor plate is made) or on KL trolley – we can do either. –TOF patch panel need retrieving from DSA – planned for shift on Friday. –Scissor lift platform for sliding beamstop here and some other parts are on order –Bits for stationary beamstop all here – need assembling

7. 7 Installation of Step One KL at RAL! TOF0 HERE?OR HERE?

8. 8 Worries August 4 th shutdown getting close: –Last chance for mound excavation in 2008 –Sliding beamstop is more work than we thought – aiming for August, but might miss – fall-back would have to be current blocks craned in/out –LH2 system still has to undergo another HAZOP review and final safety review – difficult to see how the September 2008 date will be met –Building the false floor and North shield wall for end August (solenoid #1 arrival) is believable, but very tight
