3 “Wherefore, now let every man learn his duty, and to act in the office in which he is appointed, in all diligence …he that learns not his duty and shows himself not approved shall not be counted worthy to stand. Even so. Amen.” Jesus Christ (Doctrine and Covenants 107:99-100) "Camping, Hiking, Good Turns, Jamboree Comradeship are all means, Not the end. We never fail when we do our duty, we always fail when we neglect to do it.” Robert Baden Powell (Founder and Chief Scout of the Scout Movement)

11 Structured Freedom -Jesus “And when he was twelve years old…How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business? - Daniel to the Prince of Eunuchs, “Prove thy servants, I beseech thee, ten days…” - Joseph S. Jr “And though I was an obscure boy, only between fourteen and fifteen years of age… I returned to my father in the field… He replied to me go and do.”

12 "In these perilous times, it is not enough for our youth to merely know. They must Act, Participate, and Do. Wholehearted participation in ordinances [sacrament] AND inspired programs [scouting] helps youth put on the whole armor of God." “Our Duty to God: The Mission of Parents and Leaders to the Rising Generation” Robert D. Hales April 2010 General Conference

13 The whole Scouting Movement was inspired because an Adult witnessed a Boy do something great all on his own. So, for an Adult to stand in a Boy Scout’s way today undermines the actual Scouting movement. "Train Scouts to do a job, then let them do it. Never do anything a boy can do.“ (Robert Baden-Powell) “I teach them correct principles and they govern themselves.” (Joseph Smith)
